I am pleased to announce that The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy at Loyola University Chicago will be featuring a 3-hour webinar on Assessing In-Depth Therapy as a Social Justice Imperative: Race, Culture, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy on August 2nd from 9 am to 12 om CST.
Presented by Dr. Usha Tummala-Narra, with an Introduction by Dr. Linda Michaels. Eligible participants will receive 3 CEUs through IDPFR or the APA, and qualifying Social Workers will earn 3 CEUs toward Cultural Competency requirements.
This course will address myths concerning psychodynamic psychotherapy with racial and ethnic minority clients--specifically how these myths shape racial disparities in access to mental health care. We will explore both the historical neglect of sociocultural issues in clinical theory and more recent, contemporary perspectives on culturally informed psychodynamic psychotherapy, as well as the dire need for improved access to in-depth therapy.
